This webinar series offers various perspectives on North East India’s evolving political and economic realities while fostering meaningful academic and policy-driven discussions.
About the Webinar Series: The fundamental objectives of the webinar are to discuss the contemporary political, historical, social, and economic dimensions of the North East. The North East of India, consisting of eight diverse states, has long been marginalized in national political discourse despite its unique strategic, cultural, and geographical significance. The region faces challenges such as ethnic diversity, insurgency, migration, underdevelopment, and demands for autonomy. However, with rapid socio-political and economic changes, it is crucial to re-examine these evolving dynamics within the broader context of national and regional development. This discussion will focus on the region’s shifting socio-political landscape, including issues of identity, autonomy, migration, and security, while exploring its economic potential through infrastructure, trade, and sustainable development. The region has seen changes like improved political participation, better connectivity, and the “Act East Policy,” providing an opportunity to address historical grievances while planning for the future. Topics of discussion will include ethnic movements, governance, political engagement, and security, as well as infrastructure development, resource utilization, and youth employment. The goal is to rethink North East politics in a way that balances regional aspirations with national integration, fosters inclusive development, and addresses the challenges of autonomy and political representation. Expected outcomes include actionable policy recommendations, a deeper understanding of the region’s dynamics, and a platform for dialogue among key stakeholders, including policymakers, community leaders, academics, and youth.

How to Apply for the Webinar Series?
Significance of Webinar: North East India, comprising eight states, has long faced unique challenges, such as insurgency, ethnic tensions, and economic underdevelopment. These issues require nuanced discussions that go beyond generalizations to highlight local concerns and the effects of national policies on the region. The region has often been marginalized in terms of infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Analyzing the evolving economic dynamics can shed light on the opportunities for inclusive development and help formulate policies that can elevate the living standards of the people in these states. The North East is a mosaic of diverse ethnic groups, each with distinct languages, traditions, and customs. This diversity, while enriching, has sometimes led to political friction. Rethinking political dynamics in the region can pave the way for better integration, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among these groups. Over time, the North East has seen movements seeking greater autonomy or even independence. Understanding the evolving political landscape can help identify the need for greater political empowerment, the preservation of cultural identities, and the balancing of regional and national interests. While the North East is geographically and culturally distinct from the rest of India, its political, economic, and security stability is vital for the overall integrity of the nation. Discussing the evolving dynamics can bring awareness of the need for greater integration and effective governance at both regional and national levels. The North East is strategically located with neighbouring countries such as China, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar. This has implications for both trade and security. Examining the economic growth potential, along with challenges posed by international relations, helps in reshaping policies that can leverage globalization while preserving local interests. Many parts of the North East are rich in natural resources and biodiversity. However, the economic growth also needs to be sustainable to prevent environmental degradation. Discussion around evolving socio-political dynamics is crucial in ensuring that development does not come at the expense of the environment.
In essence, a discussion like this can help reshape the trajectory of Northeast India by identifying challenges and proposing solutions that are both practical and rooted in the region’s specific needs. It can foster more targeted policy-making, drive positive change, and ensure that the region reaches its full potential in a way that benefits both local communities and the nation as a whole. Additionally, it can create a balanced approach that promotes sustainable growth, peaceful coexistence, and political stability in North East India while integrating the region’s aspirations with the nation’s broader vision.

About the Indian Research Scholars Association: The India Research Scholars Association is a platform whose objective is to exchange creative, constructive, promotional, and progressive dialogue with research scholars in all the universities, colleges, and research institutes of India doing research in the subjects of Social Sciences, Humanity, Commerce and Management. Through this platform, subject experts’ lectures are organized, and information related to research is shared. Lectures have been organized on research methodology, contemporary issues, research dynamics, and topics. The Researchers doing research in various universities, colleges, and research institutes operate this platform. Whose selection is made according to work done in their particular field? In this, lectures related to research are organized by subject experts and research scholars. So that the flow of logic and language can be developed in their works and communication style, this platform welcomes all those research scholars of India who are active in Research work.
Mission:
Our primary mission is to empower researchers, academicians, and students by providing them with the necessary tools, guidance, and platforms to excel in their academic pursuits. We believe in sharing knowledge free of cost because knowledge is for sharing, not for sale. We aim to foster a community that values knowledge sharing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of cutting-edge research methodologies. IRSA aims to connect research scholars on one platform to exchange creative, constructive, promotional, and progressive dialogue with research scholars in all the universities, colleges, and research institutes of India.
Achievements: Our first major achievement is successfully bringing researchers from across the country together on a single platform. With a proven track record of organizing successful events, including two 10-day workshops on ‘Data Analysis Using SPSS Software’ and a one week national level e-workshop on ‘Enhancing Research Paper Writing Skills’. We have garnered a large number of participation from leading academicians, researchers, and students across India. Our lecture series, workshop and also book discussion sessions have been successful in reaching every state and UTs of our country. Consequently, 2000+ young researchers have connected with IRSA from all over India on various social media platforms. Delegates from various countries like the USA, France, Germany, Russia, and Bangladesh have visited this virtual platform and shared their knowledge and experiences. We have successfully conducted 100+ lectures, 20+ book discussions, and three workshops with the participation of vice-chancellors, professors, researchers, and professionals. These sessions have provided a platform for insightful discussions on topics such as key concepts of research methodology, how to develop a questionnaire, how to avoid mistakes during research, hypothesis testing, and many more; book discussions on various contemporary issues like Reimagining Innovation Systems in Covid and Post Covid, Globalization and Sustainable Development, Internal Security and so on have received positive feedback for their depth and relevance.
