Critical thinking is essential for Research: Prof. Amir Nasrullah
A lecture on “Critical Thinking in Social Sciences and Humanities Research ” was organized by the “Indian Research Scholars Association” on 27th September at 6:30 pm. The Chief speaker on this topic was Dr. Amir Mohammad Nasrullah (Professor, Department of Public Administration, and former Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh). He delivered a comprehensive lecture on this subject. At the beginning of his lecture, he discussed the main points of critical thinking, after that he explained their practical experience by connecting each point with the research methodology. He said that today critical thoughts are rarely seen in research papers. Even if critical views are given, sufficient facts are not referenced due to which the originality of the research paper is not clear. Therefore, it is necessary to compile critical thinking with adequate facts and arguments. He also said that new discussions should emerge in research, merely writing a few pages is not research. After selecting the problem, it is very important to review the related literature. Research work should be started only after studying the literature related to the subject. In the end, Professor Amir answered the questions of all the participants.
