Research should be based on scientific standards: Prof. Lakhwinder Singh
A lecture on the topic of ‘Ethics of Research and its Publication’ was organized by “Indian Research Scholars Association” at 5 pm. The Keynote speaker of this topic, Prof. Lakhwinder Singh (Former Head of Department and Professor, Department of Economics, Punjabi University, Patiala, Editor, Millenia Asia Journal, and Visiting Fellow, Institute of Human Development, New Delhi) was present. He gave a comprehensive lecture on this subject. At the beginning of his lecture, he clarified the main points of research, its quality and writing. At the beginning of the lecture he said that research papers should be written on the basis of scientific standards. Clarity of fundamental ideas is very important in selecting the title of research. When any idea is taken from any research paper, it is necessary to give its reference. It should also not be done that if a research paper has not been read and its reference is given, then all these aspects come under plagiarism. For this, he also gave examples of Indian, American, Australian and Iraqi social scientists. Who have worked under this topic and highlighted such issues. Literature related to the subject in which research is being done should be studied and then the problem should be selected. He also said that the quality of research in social science subjects in India remains low. Original ideas are rarely seen in research papers. If the problems in social science subjects are identified, then sufficient facts can be referred to, due to which the originality of the research becomes clear. Therefore, it is necessary that research be done with adequate facts and arguments. He also said that new discussions should emerge in research, merely writing a few pages is not research. After selecting the problem, it is very important to review the related literature. Research work should be started only after studying the literature related to the subject. While sharing his editing experience, he said that if quantitative research is done in the research and the hypothesis is not tested, then the title of the research paper remains different and the subject matter of the research is different, then in such a situation the research paper’s The quality becomes very low. For this, it is necessary that the literature related to the title selected should be studied and compiled in the research. If any researcher is doing research in collaboration with someone else and has put in more effort then he should be the first author. For this also he presented practical examples. End Prof. Lakhwinder Singh answered the questions of all the participants.
